DIY at it's best!

A few months ago I saw a DIY project on Pinterest that I fell in love with. 

The picture on Pinterest that inspired me.

It's simple, really...but such an amazing and thoughtful thing that it made my heart melt.  Repurpose a picture frame into a very meaningful, ever-changing thing!

I found a cheap picture frame at Goodwill on a trip with Kenz this summer.  It was a light wood (not my favorite or fitting to our home) but was in good condition.  I'm not sure what I paid for it, but it was cheap, as you can imagine.

Kenz let me borrow some of her craft paint (p.s. You probably want that back at some point, huh?) and I painted the fram a darker brown and then sponged on some purple to give it texture and depth (ok, I got bored and wanted to doodle...but "texture" and "depth" make me sound so much more sophisticated and experienced with this whole crafting thing - both of which I am NOT).  Then even more boredom led me to take the light blue/teal + toothpick and make designs on the frame.

Then at work I found a font I liked and wrote up the paper for the frame. 
I "gave" the frame to Wes on his birthday this last weekend.  Yeah, obviously it's not a guy's dream to get a frame for his birthday, but he had seen my progress with the frame (though not knowing the purpose and probably just assumed I'd put a picture of us in it) and he asked me not to buy him anything...so.......

So yesterday Wes came home from work with dry erase markers (per my persistance)!!!!  I was so excited.  How easy is that?!  A frame, paint (if desired), paper/printer, and a dry erase marker.  We can now leave these loving notes to each other and easily change them with the wipe of a towel.
