Lemon Goodiness . . .

Heya!
Do any of you watch PLL?!
Goodness...last night's episode sure left us sitting on the edge of our seats.
What's your take on it?
I just refuse to believe that Toby is working with Mona.
It has to be a trick...he must be trying to gain advantage from the "inside."

Anyways...yesterday on Facebook I posted the final product of today's recipe.
Now I will share it!!

Two Ingredient Lemon Bars

Angel Food Cake Mix + Lemon Pie Filling

The only (small) problem I came across is that the recipe called for a 15oz can of lemon pie filling but the local grocery store (the only place I could find lemon) carried 22oz cans only.

Mix, mix, and mix some more.
You'll feel like it's never going to come together.
The cake mix will also fly everywhere because it's super super fine.
Mix a little more.

Once it all comes together, put it in a greased 9x13 at 350º for 20 minutes.

As it is cooling, sprinkle it with powdered sugar.

Let them cool completely before you slice and eat. It's worth it! ;)

This week started...
25 weeks!

Baby:
• is forming capillaries under his skin.
• is the size of a rutabaga (whatever that is) or cauliflower.
• weighs in at 1.5lbs and is 13.5in long!
• can distinguish up from down thanks to equilibrium.

Netflix Obsession. . .

Funny Confession Ecard: Just because you put a pretty shirt over your muffin top does not make it a cupcake.

I love this quote. I pretty much think a variation of this line every time I look at cute shirts that only come in size 0, 2, and -2.

I'm also very glad I came across this site. It's hilarious. Awesome.

Sorry I haven't been doing well with the blog. I pretty much have been a lazy bum on the couch obsession with One Tree Hill. I never watched it when it was airing...I'm not sure why. Prolly because by the time I heard of it, it was already well under way and I didn't wanna hop in the middle of it. So, a couple months ago I added it to Netflix. A couple of weeks ago I started watching it.

One-tree-hill

The first few episodes were very slow and I nearly removed it from my queue.
I'm soooooooooooooo glad I didn't!!
I'm uber addicted!! I can't stop watching it. I watch it while eating my breakfast, I watch it while I eat lunch...and I sneak it in whenever Wes is otherwise occupied. I can't get enough!

Peyton - one-tree-hill photo

I think Peyton is my favorite. I especially love her hair cut in Season 3 (I'm at the end of that season now). I've been contemplating a cut lately, thanks to Peyton's character, but I know Wes would rather I keep it long since it's "finally getting long."

What are your plans for the weekend?Wes & I were going to go to an Illinois State Park to do some hiking, but it looks to be a rainy rainy weekend, so we're just going to lay it low. We started cleaning up the extra bedrooms yesterday and I hope we can get a little more accomplished this weekend. Also, our niece, Courtney's birthday is Sunday, so we're having a fondue party. My couscous balls are requested by the birthday girl, so that's what I'm contributing! Recipe to come!

Gone Fishin' . . .

I know, I know...I'm slacking. I haven't been keeping up with the photo-a-day or even posting every day. What can I say, though? It's so nice out! I can't help it!

Yesterday was a great day to just go fishing! So that's just what we did. After we went to a local church for the first time. Wes' family goes to a church that is about an hour away from us, so it isn't really the most convenient option. We hadn't tried any local churches, but after talking to an old acquaintance of Wes', we decided we should give it a try to see if it was a fit for us. The church is less than a block away from our house, so it was an easy commute. We liked the service and people, so I think we will go again this weekend.

Afterwards we went to pick up Billy, Vince, and Waylon to go fishing. It was a full boat...with Waylon sitting illegally in the far back with the window open for him to breathe.

Half of Billy, Waylon in back, and half of Vince.
Billy & Vince waiting for us all to get settled.
Let's fish!
Waylon & Wes watching for fish and chatting.

Best seat in the house. Sitting on a rock,
lake to my back, Nook in hand.

I quickly realized I wasn't going to be able to read while sitting with the boys. The W's were having too much fun chatting, which is great to see. So, I went and found my own little get away at the lake.
It's a cozy little spot I found...until the train came.
Overlooking the lake as I read on my Nook.

To the left of those evergreen trees
is where the boys were fishing.

It was such a windy day!!

Today was another beautiful day (prior to the much needed rain), so I went for a walk around the lake after work. As I got to the lake, this is the view I saw from above:

I said a quick prayer that all of that rain would hold off until I made it home. He answered my prayers and not more than five minutes after walking in the door, He let it rain. The forecast has chances of rain in it for the rest of the week. As much as I'd love dry days to enjoy walks after work, I do hope we get some rain for the farmers (like my daddy). It's been so dry out.

Day 18: A corner of your homeThis is probably my favorite corner of our home.
My papasan chair from college is so comfy and
a great place to curl up with my Nook.
Day 19: FunnyThis CRACKS me up [to tears] EVERY time I see it.

What have you been doing to enjoy the amazing weather we've been having?

What did you think of the PLL spring finale?!
I thought it was a great finale, but am STILL am sitting on the edge of my seat [just like I was throughout the finale] to see what's in store next! Obviously Mona [as crazy as she is, apparently] is only really an accomplice. Jenna has to be involved...why else would she be keeping her sight a secret?! Also, something or another is up with Melissa - I kind of think she's involved.

Silly, Silly Ben. . .

It's been over six months since Wes & I pulled the plug on cable television and use only Netflix, but there are still a few shows I simply couldn't give up. None of them I'm too proud of, but I'm addicted nonetheless.

Pretty Little Liars is a major addicition that I can't give up ... there's a mystery element to the show, so how can anyone expect me to just up and stop watching?! Well it airs on ABC Family every Monday night, so I am able to watch it online through their webpage on Tuesday. For free. Win - win.

Switched at Birth is the other ABC Family show. I actually had never watched this when I had cable, but once we got Netflix I came across Season 1, watched it all, loved it (I secretly am fascinated by Sign Language), and realized I needed to keep up with it. So it airs on ABC Family every Tuesday which allows me to watch it online Wednesday! Sweet!

The Bachelor is another one of my guilty pleasures. I enjoy this drama with my mom, so she keeps them stored on her DVR so I can catch up on the season when I'm over there. Last night was the finale. It was pretty obvious what was going to happen, unfortunately, but I knew my mom couldn't keep her mouth shut if she watched it without me. So dad grilled last night and after supper mom and I watched the finale and "After the Rose" together to ensure she didn't ruin it for me.

First off, can we just talk about how Ben looks like an ape...? Just a little bit...? You don't see it?

Or perhaps you think he looks like Francine...? I can see that. I just don't find him all that attractive. Plus he kissed every single girl on the show pretty much - and didn't waste any time getting right down to business. He skinny dipped with Courtney when there were still 6 other girls (I think) left. Get a grip, dude!

Who was your favorite woman on the show? Mine was definitely Kacie B. She's so sweet! The polar opposite of Courtney. I mean no harm to the woman. Though she seemed rather crazy throughout the season, I'm sure it's very hard to be in that position and it brings out parts of you that you wouldn't usually see on a daily basis.

Day 12: fork
While enjoying the train wreck that was The Bachelor finale, I enjoyed a spoon fork full of homemade cream cheese frosting. Yes, I'm on a diet. No, I don't do well on diets. My family revolves around food and it makes me happy. There's a give and take, I believe.

What are your thoughts on the finale?
Are you excited for Emily to be the new Bachelorette?
She's so pretty, but I'm anxious to see how she acts in that spot since she's really quiet and reserved.

Unplugged . . .

Wes & I pulled the plug on Dish Network yesterday.  We are officially members of Netflix and Netflix only.  I weighed the options over quite a bit before deciding to pull the plug.  I signed a two year contract with them when I started service and there is still 11 months left in that contract.  Because of that, there is an early termination charge of $192.50.  If, though, I remain in my contract with Dish Network, I would end up paying almsot $700 in those 11 months for their service.  I certainly realize that I should have thought things over better and been more realistic and financially smart before signing a two year contract with Dish Network, but since I can't go back in time, I realized that cancelling my service with them was the best option.  With Netflix we receive one month free trial and then will pay $7.99/month for unlimited streaming.  I think that will help a lot financially.  Here's what killed me: I asked the "account specialist" what card the $192.50 would be charged to and she couldn't tell me.  I had already told two people at Dish Network on this phone call that I was cancelling service due to financial need and then they're not going to be able to tell me where the nearly $200 was going to be charged?!  That's kind of important.

Anyway, Sunday night Wes & I became members of Netflix and I quickly added 20+ movies/shows to my Instant Queue.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In my last post I had mentioned that I would post soon about the pizza I was going to make.  Well, last week was hectic and there wasn't a single evening that we were home for supper, so I never got the chance to make the special pizza.
Saturday was our wedding reception:
Wes & I with our wedding cake.
Wes & I with our nephew, Ian.  ♥
The guys & I (and Leilani) hanging out on the front porch playing guitar after the reception.  These guys have a place in my heart and I truly appreciate their friendship.
TV Junkie
Tonight was the final exam for Intermediate Accounting II.  Going into the exam I was sitting at a 92%.  The end of this week starts a great adventure that I will fill you in on in a week or so after all is said and done.  All I can think of is what the end of the week holds, so studying was nearly impossible.  I'm not proud to admit it, but I did some calculations.  If I didn't get a single question correct on the final exam, I'd still finish the class out with a 72% (C).  Is that acceptable?  Not usually, but at this point...it gave me a little hope, at least!  With that said, I looked over the note cards I had prepared for the first 1/2 of the chapters this term (prior to my surgery, after which I slacked off quite a bit) and also looked over the first exam we took.  Imagine the big grin on my face tonight during the final exam when I see questions from the first exam VERBATIM!!!!  Answered prayers, I tell ya!  I would say about 5 (out of 50) of the questions were STRAIGHT from the first (and maybe second...?) exam while another 3 or 4 were eerily similar with new numbers plugged in.  So, I can safely say that I will end Intermediate Accounting II with higher than a 72%!!!!
Now, onto the title of this post.  TV.  I hate admitting it, but I'm pretty much a TV junkie.  The Bachelorette, Secret Life of the American Teenager, Pretty Little Liars, Gossip Girl, and 90210 mostly.  Want to know what's so annoying about all of these shows...?!  (Ok, this is Jenna being a teenager, get over it.)  They're all on Monday Nights!!!!  My DVR can only tape 2 things at once, which makes getting all of these taped each week a feat in and of itself.
Ok, so now that I've put my childish post out there...let me end with this:
I cannot wait until Wes & I can move and be rid of cable.  Yes, I admit I'm addicted...but look at all the money that can be saved if you get rid of cable!!  There are so many more affordable options out of there.  Netflix is like $10/month and we already have a PS3 which we can stream Netflix Instant from.  Then there is Hulu along with TV channels' websites to view sitcoms and series that I'm addicted to.  I called in hopes of cancelling my cable, but since I had signed a 2 year contract recently (to lower my monthly bill), it would cost some ungodly $250 or something to cancel the contract.  So, for now...I wait it out.
What shows are you addicted to?
Do you do cable or are you smarter than I?
