Organization Needed

Recently, I received a stack of cooking magazines and a cookbook from Gma Beck.

Which reminded me how much I'm in needed of organizing all of my recipes.  I don't so much as have "cookbooks" as I have a compilation of recipes.  When I open up my "recipe cupboard" (just think, if I got organized, I'd gain a cupboard to use for it's intended use!!), you see this:

At work I subscribe to Pillsbury, Betty Crocker, All Recipes. etc.  This means I receive emails daily (or more) from each of these companies/sites with several recipes in each email.  It's handy, really...until they started repeating themselves because I've been subscribed for so long.  So each time I get a recipe in the email that I like or think I would like to try, I print it.  When I print it, I bring it home and throw it in this cupboard.  Hence, the mess.

This afternoon, I sorted the recipes out in "categories".  The categories above, from left to right are: chicken, beef, other protein, side dishes/appetizers, desserts.  The binder at the bottom (with the lovely picture of myself) is a cookbook mom made for me when I graduated - full of family recipes!

The recipes in this pile vary in form.  Some are on index cards (pictured above is a recipe from Kenz.)

Above is a recipe on an actual recipe card!

Above is a really technical recipe form - notebook paper!  :)

There are several recipes torn out from magazines (above).

Others I typed up.

I'll pretty much write the recipes on whatever is handy.  These long thin pieces of paper are abundant at work, so several recipes end up on them.

Above is the note in the back of my cookbook that my mom made me.  Brings a tear to my eye...

After all of that is said...I still don't feel like actually organizing them.  I need to get sleeves to put them all in and make all on uniform paper and put in a binder.  Until next time...

I bought this wonderful thing at I think Manglesons (which is similar I would say to like a Hobby Lobby). It is a cookbook with plastic sleeves and comes with recipe cards and the dividers and everything to make your own cookbook. The sleeves are nice because you can just take a single recipe out of the book instead of having the whole thing out and also the paper is protected! All my cookbooks have wrinkled pages from getting wet. lol

It is similar to this: http://www.walmart.com/ip/5169812

Then I should get copies of all your recipes because they always look so good!
